25 Students and Teachers Feared Dead in Bangkok School Bus Fire

Shafaqna India: Around 25 people are feared dead in Thailand after a school bus carrying students and teachers on a field trip caught fire near Bangkok on Tuesday. Sixteen passengers were hospitalized, the government reported.

While police have not confirmed the exact number of casualties, Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul indicated that approximately 25 people are believed to have died.

Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit stated that 16 students and three teachers were taken to the hospital, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Images shared on social media showed thick smoke rising from the burning bus, which was later extinguished. Fire trucks, police, and rescue vehicles surrounded the charred vehicle, with firefighters gathered at the entrance.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra expressed her condolences, stating the students were on a field trip from Uthai Thani province, 250 km north of Bangkok. “As a mother, I offer my deepest sympathies to the families,” she said in a post on X.
