Shafaqna India: An alleged stone attack on AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s car has become a major point of contention as the Delhi Assembly election approaches on February 5.
AAP has claimed that Kejriwal’s car was targeted with bricks and stones during his election campaign, accusing the BJP of orchestrating a conspiracy to harm him out of fear of defeat in the upcoming polls. The party shared a video of the alleged incident on X, asserting that BJP’s desperation to win had led them to attempt to take Kejriwal’s life.
“Fearing their impending defeat, the BJP has become so panicked that they are trying to eliminate Kejriwal. Does the BJP want to take revenge for his work for the people of Delhi by resorting to violence?” the party said. AAP has been in power in Delhi since 2013.
Reports suggest that the attack occurred in New Delhi, Kejriwal’s own constituency.
In response, BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, contesting from the same constituency, dismissed the allegations, stating that Kejriwal’s car had actually hit two young individuals who were questioning him about Delhi’s development. “Both were taken to Lady Hardinge Hospital. In his rush to avoid defeat, he forgot the value of human lives,” Verma wrote on X, adding that he was going to the hospital.
The Delhi Assembly election is set for February 5, with results to be counted on February 8. AAP is aiming for a third consecutive term, while BJP is striving to challenge the AAP’s dominance in the capital. Additionally, Congress remains a competitor, having been ousted from power by AAP in 2013.
