Shafaqna India: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has written to Rajya Sabha secretariat intimating replacement of Raghav Chadha with Ashok Mittal as the new deputy leader in the house.
Sources confirmed to The Tribune that the letter has been sent by AAP leader in Rajya Sabha Sanjay Singh.
The Tribune has further learnt that the AAP has also told the Rajya Sabha secretariat and chairman office that Chadha, RS member from Punjab, should not be given time from party’s quota to speak.
The developments were confirmed by highly placed sources today.
Mittal is the founder and chancellor of Lovely Professional University.
Chadha has of late been active in zero hour in the Rajya Sabha and was credited with government move to mandate social security for gig workers who are forced to stick to timelines when delivering food.
As politics around the 2027 Punjab elections intensifies, Chadha’s removal is seen as crucial.
Not too long ago, Chadha was seen as AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s right hand man.
