Shafaqna India: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini approved the 20-day parole request of rape and murder convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim on Tuesday, forwarding it to the Divisional Commissioner in Rohtak for further action.

Sources indicate that after the Chief Minister’s clearance, the application was sent to the Prisons Department, which passed it on to the Divisional Commissioner. Ram Rahim will be released upon receiving mandatory clearance from local authorities in Bagpath, Uttar Pradesh, where he will reside during the parole period.

The Election Commission permitted the government to “consider” the Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s parole application ahead of the Haryana Assembly election on October 5.

This marks the 11th time Ram Rahim has been granted parole or furlough since his 2017 conviction. He is serving a 20-year sentence in Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail for raping two disciples.
