Shops, business units, and coaching were shut across in Kashmir, while traffic was off the roads.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Samoon, unfurled the tricolour at Bakshi Stadium here and took salute at March past presented by the contingents of Police, BSF, CRPF, ITBT, SSB, JKAP, IRP, Women police, Executive Police, SDRF, Fire & Emergency, Forest Protection Force, besides NCC cadets and students, while deputy commissioners hoisted the flag in districts.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Inspector General of Police, SJM Gillani, IGP IRP, Sunil Kumar, senior officers of civil administration, Police and Paramilitary Forces besides large gathering of people attended the function.
Unprecedented security arrangements were made across the valley, with authorities snapping the internet services in the morning and unblocked it in the afternoon.
In his speech, Dr Samoon said that the Day is the most significant day in the history of the country as this is the day when people of the country gave constitution to themselves.
Dr Samoon said that administration is putting all efforts for ensuring effective public delivery system across the valley and no stone will be left unturned in this regard. He said administration is giving focused attention towards education, health and other developmental sectors so that visible improvement is registered on ground and public is benefited at large.
The Divisional Commissioner also emphasized on collective efforts to eradicate social evils, preservation and protection of heritage and environment. He also prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity on the occasion.
Various colourful and mesmerizing cultural programmes were presented by the students of different educational institutions besides artists of Information, Education, Youth Services & Sports and Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
At BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner, Mir Altaf unfurled the Flag and took salute at the march past.
At BARAMULLA, Deputy Commissioner, Yasha Mudgal was the chief guest who unfurled the Flag and took salute at the march past.
At URI, SDM Uri, hoisted the Flag and took salute of the March-Past.
At ANANTNAG, Deputy Commissioner Muneer-ul-Islam hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past.
At PAHALGAM, the tricolour was unfurled by Sub Divisional Magistrate, who took salute and inspected the march past on the occasion.
At KULGAM, Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah unfurled the flag and took salute at the march past.
At PULWAMA, Deputy Commissioner, Niraj Kumar unfurled the Flag and took salute at the march past.
At BANDIPORA, Deputy Commissioner, Sajad Hussain was the chief guest who hoisted the Flag and took salute at the march past.
At KUPWARA, Deputy Commissioner, Rajiv Ranjan unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past. Tributes were paid to Col. Santosh on the occasion.

AT LEH, the Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh, Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the march past.
Besides district headquarters the functions were held at all Sub-Divisions and Tehsils of the districts of Kashmir valley.
Independent MLA from Langate Engineer Rashid was disallowed to leave his Srinagar residence. Senior separatist leaders, including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, had called for a complete shutdown.
