Araghchi urges European countries to condemn US-Israeli attacks against Iran that violate int’l law

Shafaqna India :  In a phone call with Italy’s FM Antonio Tajani, Iran’s FM Abbas Araghchi has criticised European countries for their silence over unlawful US and Israeli military attacks on Iran, warning that the inaction undermines international law and the non-proliferation regime, Tasnim reports.

Both leaders discussed regional developments and the security, legal, and economic consequences of the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

Araghchi outlined the “actions carried out by the US and the Zionist regime during the recent attacks, stressing that all countries bear responsibility to condemn such clear violations of the United Nations Charter and international law”.

He described the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz as a “direct result of unlawful and unilateral US military actions against a sovereign UN member state”, Tasnim said. He contended that Iran, as a coastal state, has adopted measures in accordance with international law to safeguard its national security.

The Iranian minister further described European countries’ silence regarding the attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities as unacceptable, warning that such approaches contribute to the erosion of international law and the non-proliferation regime due to Europe’s double standards.
