Shafaqna India: On Friday, the Supreme Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case, nearly six months after his arrest.
A Bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan approved his release on a bail bond of Rs 10 lakh and two sureties. The Court also instructed Kejriwal to refrain from making any public statements regarding the case.
Kejriwal was first detained in March over alleged irregularities related to the city’s liquor policy. Although he was granted bail for that case in July, he remained in custody due to a separate graft case tied to the same policy, in which he was arrested by federal authorities a month earlier.
Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have consistently denied the allegations, calling the cases “politically motivated.” Following the Supreme Court’s decision, AAP leader Manish Sisodia stated, “Truth has triumphed again in the fight against lies and conspiracies.”
