Shafaqna India: Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), took his oath as a Member of Parliament from Hyderabad for the fifth consecutive term on Tuesday, June 25. His oath ceremony garnered attention as he concluded it with the slogan “Jai Palestine,” along with expressions of solidarity such as “Jai MIM, Jai BHIM, Jai Telangana, and Takbeer Allah hu Akbar.” This gesture underscored his ongoing support for the Palestinian cause, as reported by Siasat Daily.
In a statement following the oath, Owaisi emphasized his commitment to representing India’s marginalized communities with sincerity during his tenure in the Lok Sabha.
Owaisi secured a decisive victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections, defeating BJP candidate Madhavi Latha by a significant margin in Hyderabad. He garnered 661,981 votes, surpassing his previous electoral records. The BJP candidate received 323,894 votes, while the Congress candidate, Mohammed Waliullah Sameer, secured 62,962 votes.
Representing Hyderabad since 2004, Asaduddin Owaisi continues the legacy of his father, Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, who held the seat from 1984 to 2004. The constituency witnessed a voter turnout of 48.48%, with Goshamahal recording the highest turnout at 54.72%.
Owaisi’s re-election marks his continued influence in Hyderabad’s political landscape and his ongoing advocacy for the community he represents.
