Shafaqna India: Defending champions India secured their fourth consecutive win at the Hero Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament by defeating Korea 3-1 on Thursday.
India, the Paris Olympics bronze medalist, had already achieved victories over China (3-0), Japan (5-0), and last year’s runner-up Malaysia (8-1). Against Korea, Araijeet Singh Hundal scored in the 8th minute, while captain Harmanpreet Singh added two goals in the 9th and 43rd minutes. Korea’s only goal came from Jihun Yang in the 30th minute off a penalty corner.
Having already qualified for the semifinals, India will face arch-rivals Pakistan in their final league match of the six-team competition on Saturday.
The top four teams from the league stage will advance to the semifinals, scheduled for Saturday, with the final set to take place on Sunday.
