Shafaqna India: Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal resigned from his position as a minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet on Wednesday morning, adhering to his party’s policy of “one person, one post.”
Jaiswal’s resignation came just ahead of the evening cabinet expansion, which was confirmed by the Information and Public Relations Department.
Jaiswal, who held the important Revenue and Land Reform portfolio, was appointed to the cabinet in January last year after the BJP rejoined the state government with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s switch to the NDA. In July, Jaiswal replaced Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary as the state BJP president.
After submitting his resignation, Jaiswal expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a minister and highlighted his achievements, including the digitization of over 11 crore pages of records. He emphasized his commitment to strengthening the BJP’s organizational structure moving forward.
“I am thankful to the party leadership for trusting me with major responsibilities. As a minister, I am proud of the work accomplished, especially in the area of digitization. I will now focus on strengthening the party,” Jaiswal told reporters.
The resignation follows a meeting chaired by BJP President JP Nadda in Patna on Tuesday night, where party leaders discussed matters related to the upcoming assembly elections later this year. Details of the meeting remained confidential, with discussions reportedly revolving around election preparations.
The Information and Public Relations Department confirmed that the state cabinet would be expanded later in the day, with new ministers set to take their oath at 4 pm at Raj Bhavan.
When asked about speculations regarding the new cabinet appointments, Jaiswal said, “It is the Chief Minister’s prerogative to decide. As the state BJP president, I am aware of developments, but I have not received any official communication from the Chief Minister’s Office as of now.”
