Shafaqna India: Premier Indian doubles player Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden have secured their place in the season-ending ATP Finals, making this Bopanna’s fourth appearance at the elite tournament.
The Indo-Aussie team clinched their spot after the pair of Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow were eliminated at the Rolex Paris Masters, finalizing the 2024 lineup. The ATP Finals, set for November 10-17 at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, will feature the top eight doubles teams globally, including Wesley Koolhof/Nikola Mektic, Kevin Krawietz/Tim Puetz, Harri Heliovaara/Henry Patten, Marcelo Arevalo/Mate Pavic, Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos, Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori, and Max Purcell/Jordan Thompson.
Bopanna and Ebden launched their season impressively, winning the Australian Open, where Bopanna, at nearly 44, became the oldest man to achieve a world No. 1 ranking. They later added a Miami Open title, reached the final in Adelaide, and advanced to the semi-finals at Roland Garros.
This marks their second consecutive year qualifying for the ATP Finals; last year, they reached the semi-finals in Turin but were defeated by Granollers and Zeballos. For Bopanna, this tournament is particularly significant as he aims for his first ATP Finals title. He previously came close, finishing as a finalist in 2012 with Mahesh Bhupathi and in 2015 with Florin Mergea, and made his ATP Finals debut in 2011 with Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi.
