New Delhi: Following the statement of Centre that it is not mandatory for Lt Najeeb Jung to consult Delhi CM on services, Kejriwal today alleged that PM Modi is trying to run Delhi through the backdoor.
Delhi chief minister said that NDA government at the Centre had betrayed the trust of Delhi people.
Kejriwal said “Narendra Modi ji with his three MLAs is trying to run the government of Delhi through the backdoor. I want to ask Modi ji, who is he trying to protect through this notification?”.
“I am not in a ‘jung’ with Governor Jung, we are simply fighting corruption. Every order comes from above, Mr Jung is just the face,” he added.
“Before independence, the Queen of England used to send notifications to the Viceroy here. Now, Jung Sahab is the Viceroy and PMO is London,” Kejriwal further said.
Amid the tussle between Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Centre earlier today backing Jung said it was not mandatory for him to consult Kejriwal on matters like appointment of bureaucrats.
The Union Home Ministry in a gazette notification said that the LG will have jurisdiction over matters connected with services, public order, police and land and he may consult with the Chief Minister whenever he thinks necessary in issues of services using his own “discretion”.
Meanwhile Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, criticised the notification terming it as an attempt to “save the transfer-posting industry being run in Delhi”.
The tussle between AAP government and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung started with the appointment of Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary.
Kejriwal on last Friday strongly opposed the appointment of Gamlin by Lt Governor Najeeb Jung.
Kejriwal has accused Gamlin of trying to favour two Reliance Infra-owned discoms through a Rs 11,000-crore loan and claimed the Modi government wants AAP dispensation to “fail”.
Arvind Kejriwal and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung also met President Pranab Mukherjee and blamed each other of violating the Constitution.
