Formal confirmation of Iran’s attendance at peace talks ‘still awaited’: info minister

Shafana India: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that as of 7:30pm, a formal response from Iran confirming their attendance at peace talks in Islamabad is “still awaited”.

”Pakistan, as the mediator, is in constant touch with [the] Iranians and pursuing the path of diplomacy and dialogue,” Tarar has said on X.

The minister adds, noting that the two-week ceasefire is due to expire at 4:50am tomorrow morning, that a decision from Iran to attend the talks before the ceasefire ends is critical.

“Pakistan has made sincere efforts to convince the Iranian leadership to participate in the second round of talks, and these efforts continue,” Tarar adds.
