Himachal civic polls live: Solan MC records 44% voter turnout till 1 pm

Shafaqna India: Polling for 51 urban local bodies including the four Municipal Corporations of Dharamshala, Solan, Mandi, and Palampur, began on Sunday, officials said.

Long queues of voters, with a heavy turnout of women, were seen outside polling booths ahead of voting, which commenced at 7 am.
Polling for 64 wards in the four Municipal Corporations, 229 wards in 25 Municipal Councils, and 156 wards in 22 Nagar Panchayats began simultaneously in a single phase on Sunday.

Mandi records 49.90% till 1 pm

Mandi: The Mandi Municipal Corporation has recorded a voting turnout of 49.90 per cent till 1 pm. Meanwhile, Jogindernagar Municipal Council recorded 57.66 per cent turnout, Nerchowk Municipal Council 59.80 per cent, Sarkaghat Municipal Council 54.52 per cent, and Sundernagar Municipal Council 50.77 per cent. Among Nagar Panchayats, Karsog recorded 62.99 per cent polling, and Rewalsar registered 63.06 per cent turnout.

Parwanoo records 59.41% till 1 pm

A voter turnout of 59.41 per cent has been recorded in the Parwanoo Municipal Council till 1 pm. Meanwhile, Arki MC has recorded 63.05 per cent polling, while Nalagarh MC registered 59.65 per cent turnout. Moreover, Kandaghat Nagar Panchayat has registered 69.38 polling till 1 pm.

Dharamsala: While municipal councils across Kangra district witnessed brisk polling on Sunday, voter turnout in the high-profile Dharamsala Municipal Corporation elections remained comparatively sluggish till 1 pm despite only two hours of polling remaining. The Dharamsala Municipal Corporation recorded 42.2 per cent voting till 1 pm. Of the total 36,800 registered voters, 15,543 had exercised their franchise by the afternoon. Male voter turnout remained slightly higher than female participation, with 7,845 men casting their votes compared to 7,701 women. Solan: The Solan Municipal Corporation recorded a voter turnout of 44.28 per cent till 1 pm. The MC has recorded the lowest polling among all urban local civic bodies till 1 pm, and barely two hours were left for the voting to conclude.

Mandi records 31.91% till 11 am

Mandi: The Mandi Municipal Corporation recorded a voter turnout of 31.91 per cent till 11 am, four hours after polling began at 7 am. Meanwhile, Jogindernagar Municipal Council recorded 37.27 per cent turnout, Nerchowk Municipal Council 39.09 per cent, Sarkaghat Municipal Council 35.96 per cent, and Sundernagar Municipal Council 31.81 per cent. Among Nagar Panchayats, Karsog recorded 40.84 per cent polling, and Rewalsar registered 42.15 per cent turnout.

Dharamsala records 26.95%, Palampur 30.30% till 11 am

Dharamsala: The high-stakes Dharamsala Municipal Corporation elections recorded a voter turnout of 26.95 per cent till 11 am, four hours after polling began at 7 am. A steady flow of voters, including women, youth and senior citizens, was witnessed across polling booths in the town. Election officials said the polling process was progressing smoothly, and no major technical glitches had been reported in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Meanwhile, Palampur Municipal Corporation recorded a voter turnout of 30.30 per cent till 11 am. A total of 31,777 voters are eligible to cast their votes across 15 wards in Palampur. Read more:
