Shafaqna India: “As Protests for Mosque Demolition Intensify in Himachal Pradesh, Muslim Organization Denies Illegal Constructions”

Protests demanding the demolition of allegedly illegal mosques continue in Himachal Pradesh, with a Muslim organization asserting that no mosques in the state are illegal, attributing the issue to delays in map approvals.

Tensions escalated when members of the ‘Hindu Dharam Jagaran Yatra’ clashed with police during a march in Kullu, calling for the demolition of a mosque. The march, which drew large crowds carrying saffron flags, followed communal tensions sparked by an altercation between a Muslim barber and a Hindu businessman in Shimla.

Meanwhile, Naheem Ahmed, president of the Muslim Welfare Committee Mandi, stated that all mosques in the state are legal, but delays in government processes have caused confusion. He added that a state-level minority committee will meet with the chief minister to address the situation and curb rising tensions.

Kullu district authorities confirmed that the mosque in question is not illegal, with only a minor discrepancy in its recorded area, which is pending regularization.
