‘Hindutva Groups Burn Effigy of Owaisi Outside His Delhi Residence Amid ‘Jai Palestine’ Controversy’

Shafaqna India: Tensions escalated on Sunday as members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal burned an effigy of Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi in front of his residence at 34 Ashoka Road in Delhi. This protest was in response to Owaisi’s ‘Jai Palestine’ slogans during his oath-taking ceremony as a Member of Parliament.

Owaisi, affiliated with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), raised slogans such as ‘Jai MIM, Jai BHIM, Jai Telangana, Takbeer Allah hu Akbar,’ and ‘Jai Palestine.’ This gesture provoked backlash from BJP and Hindutva supporters, who accused him of endorsing Palestine over Israel, a close ally of India.

Earlier, on June 28, unidentified individuals vandalized Owaisi’s residence by smearing black ink on his nameplate. The vandals also affixed posters with slogans like “I Stand With Israel” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” depicting Owaisi in a derogatory manner .
