Indian-Origin Ro Khanna Wins Reelection to US House in California

Shafaqna India: Indian-American Ro Khanna won re-election to the US House of Representatives, representing California’s 17th district. The Democratic representative defeated Republican candidate Anita Chen with ease.

Earlier on election day, Khanna posted on X, expressing optimism: “Today is a big day to elect our first female President, along with a Democratic House and Senate. It’s always good to be home in Fremont. I’m deeply grateful to everyone in the 17th district for getting out to vote today, and I hope to earn your support for another 2 years in Congress.”

Khanna, who first won his seat in 2016 by defeating fellow Democrat Mike Honda, serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Oversight and Accountability Committee. The 17th district, covering parts of Silicon Valley, has been a reliably Democratic seat since 1990.
