J&K: 3 Militants, 3 Civilians Killed In Pulwama Encounter

Three militants, three civilians were killed in an encounter that broke out on Saturday morning between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Two army men were also injured in the gunfight and around thirteen youths suffered injuries most of them with pellets during clashes that erupted soon after the gunfight.

The encounter began after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Sirnoo village of Pulwama after receiving specific intelligence inputs on the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.

As police were conducting searches, the militants opened fire on them. The forces retaliated, leading to the ongoing encounter.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar said two civilians were killed in clashes that broke out near the encounter site.

Soon after the encounter, massive clashes were witnessed in parts of Pulwama district.

The train service has been suspended in the Kashmir valley for security reasons following the killing of militants and civilians in Pulwama.
