Shafaqna India: The conclusion of the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) election campaign marks a pivotal moment, showcasing the effective collaboration between the administration and security forces. This high-stakes election, the first Assembly poll since the abrogation of Article 370, unfolded peacefully thanks to the coordinated efforts of election officials, security agencies, and local authorities. Political parties campaigned freely across Jammu and the Valley, highlighting key issues such as the abrogation of Article 370, the restoration of statehood, and regional development.
The BJP focused on the positive impact of Article 370’s removal, emphasizing peace and integration, while the Congress and regional parties like the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) pushed for statehood restoration and safeguarding local identity. With 40 seats contested in the final phase, competition between major players—the BJP, Congress, NC, and PDP—has been intense. High voter turnout and enthusiasm have stood out, driven by effective election arrangements that enabled widespread public participation.
Security measures ensured a smooth process even in sensitive areas near the Line of Control and International Border, where polling stations were established without disruption. Kashmir Zone IGP VK Birdi commended the intelligence efforts of local officers, which played a key role in preventing any law-and-order issues.
The success of this election campaign reinforces confidence in governance in J&K and demonstrates that democracy can prevail in the region despite challenges. All those involved deserve recognition for their contributions to this achievement.
