Kashmir: Boy dies, two injured in Machil snow avalanche

A 15-year-old boy died and two others were injured after they were buried under a snow avalanche in Machil area of Kupwara district today even as the authorities had warned a day before about the avalanches.
Mehrajudin Khan, Javaid Ahmad Mir (14) and Javaid Ahmad Khan (14) came under the avalanche in Chuntiwara village of Machil when they were on way to an Islamic seminary.
According to KNS correspondent, while Khan died on the spot, the two other injured boys are being treated in Macchil hospital.
Locals, police and army rushed to the spot to rescue the three boys.
The avalanche comes a day after the government had issued warning in four districts of Kashmir division and advised not to venture out in avalanche prone areas.
The warning was issued for next 24 hours in avalanche prone areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora and Ladakh districts. The areas include Chokibal-Tangdhar, Keran, Gurez, Nawgam-Kalyan, Machil and Drass sector in Ladakh district.
