Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday lashed out at the separatist leaders in Kashmir for not responding to his offer for talks during his stint as Union Home Minister.
Rajnath Singh said that the so-called leaders of Kashmir did not even open their doors for the members of the all-party delegation during their visit to the valley.
Rajnath Singh said this while addressing a public meeting in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir. He was there to inaugurate a 1000-metre-long bridge built over the Ujh river in Kathua district of Jammu region.
Rajnath Singh also said that no other leader had made so many appeals for talks other than him to the separatists, but they didn’t respond positively.
Hitting out at the separatists, Rajnath Singh said that the youth of the Kashmir valley were being exploited and used as cannon fodder by the “so-called leaders of Kashmir”.
“The children of the so-called leaders of Kashmir are studying in foreign countries, but these leaders are spoiling the future of innocent Kashmiri youth who are being instigated to throw stones”, said Rajnath Singh.
After addressing the public meeting, Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 1000-metre long Ujh bridge which will improve connectivity in the border villages in Kathua district. The bridge is the longest bridge constructed by Border Roads Organisation (BRO). It has been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 50 crore and completed within the scheduled time.
Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat, MoS PMO Jitendra Singh and other senior officials from the BRO were also present on the occasion.
