Shafaqna India: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday voiced his support for Delhi’s Jat community, calling on the BJP to include them in the Centre’s Other Backward Class (OBC) category list.
Kejriwal highlighted disparities in reservation benefits, pointing out that Jats from Rajasthan receive benefits in Delhi University, while Delhi’s Jats do not. “What could be a greater disparity than this?” he remarked during a meeting with a delegation of the Jat community, which expressed gratitude for his letter to the Prime Minister on the issue.
The AAP leader criticized the BJP for unfulfilled promises, referencing assurances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 and repeated commitments by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in 2017, 2019, and 2022. “It is deeply painful that these assurances remain unfulfilled,” Kejriwal said.
Duhan Khap chief Satpal Singh Duhan praised Kejriwal’s commitment, stating, “Whether or not his government is formed, Kejriwal has assured us that he will fight for the Jat community’s cause till his last breath.”
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi missed filing her nomination papers for the Kalkaji Assembly constituency due to delays caused by a roadshow. Despite the setback, she attended a meeting with Election Commission officials alongside Kejriwal and other party leaders.
