Shafaqna India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged startups to focus more on manufacturing and create world-class products, emphasising that the future of the nation lies in innovation and technology.
Addressing National Startup Day to mark 10 years of the “Startup India” campaign, the PM said, “India’s ambition should not be limited to participation; it must aim for global leadership. Startups need to work on new ideas and solve problems.”
He remarked that risk-taking had become mainstream and that over the past decade India had achieved significant success in digital startups and the services sector. “Now is the time for our startups to focus more on manufacturing. The courage, confidence and innovation of startups are shaping India’s future,” he said, as Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal unveiled the government’s plan to build 10 lakh startups over the next decade, a move expected to generate one crore jobs.
Goyal said India’s recent free trade agreements with developed economies offer startups and entrepreneurs opportunities to access new markets, attract investment and build international partnerships.
The PM assured entrepreneurs of government support as India seeks to become the world’s third-largest economy.
