Myanmar refugees return to relative peace, but few resources

Dwindling support and the prospect for peace are encouraging ethnic Karen refugees in Thailand to return to Myanmar, but are finding the jobs and resources to rebuild their lives are scarce.

Decades of conflict between Myanmar‘s army and ethnic armed groups in the western Karen State have displaced tens of thousands of people.

Many escaped to Thailand, but recently, support for those refugees is drying up.

Some refugees have returned home, but they’re facing new difficulties as they resettle.

Al Jazeera’s Florence Looi reports.
