Nigeria: Muslim sisters in Jos protest the illegal detention of Sheikh Zakzaky

On Saturday, 9th January 2016 members of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, sisters wing in Jos Nigeria embarked on a peaceful protest demanding for the unconditional release of Sheikh Zakzaky, wife, detained brothers and corpses of those slained by the Nigerian Army in December last year during a clampdown on the movement.

10441118_935493903202377_4502495285659817406_n 1463537_935493926535708_3686209462096914093_nThe protest which lasted for about two hours started from the Islamic centre (Markaz Anguwan Rogo), marching through Bauchi road and finally wrapped up at the Jos central Mosque. The protesters flying posters inscripted ‘Free Zakzaky’, chants songs of solidarity throughout the protest.
Responding to the press shortly after the protest, a member of the sisters forum Malama Lubabatu Ladan described the detention of Sheikh Zakzaky as tyranny, barbaric and uncouth after killing his children, sister,hundreds of supporters, denying the corpes Islamic burial by desecrating them.
She finally reiterates the stand of the sisters forum to keep the candle burning, saying arson, felony and campaign of calumny can never compromise them” she said.
