Nine Naxalites killed in a confrontation with security forces in Chhattisgarh

Shafaqna India: On Tuesday, nine Naxalites were killed in a clash with security forces in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, according to a senior police official.

The firefight erupted around 10:30 a.m. in the forested area along the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts. This confrontation occurred during an anti-Naxal operation conducted by a joint team of security forces, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The operation was initiated based on intelligence about the presence of Naxalites from the West Bastar division unit, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said.

The prolonged exchange of fire ended with the recovery of the bodies of nine Naxalites, who were found in ‘uniform’ at the site. A large cache of weapons was also seized from the location.

Security personnel are reported to be unharmed, and a search operation is ongoing in the area.

This incident brings the total number of Naxalites killed by security forces in various encounters across Chhattisgarh to 154 for the year, according to police reports.
