The president of Janata Dal (United) and Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, is poised to rejoin the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance on Sunday, leaving behind the RJD, Congress, and the Left Front, which effectively marks the near dissolution of the opposition INDIA bloc.
This move would mark Nitish Kumar’s fifth change in allegiance since 2013 when he initially departed from the NDA in objection to Narendra Modi’s ascension as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate.
Having most recently severed ties with the NDA on August 9, 2022, citing attempts by the saffron party to fracture his own, Nitish Kumar is now set to continue his tenure as Bihar’s Chief Minister with the backing of the BJP, once he breaks away from his current coalition partners, the RJD, Congress, and the Left.
