Parvesh Verma, Manjinder Sirsa Among Six Ministers in Rekha Gupta’s Cabinet

Shafaqna India: The new Delhi government will have six cabinet ministers, including Parvesh Verma, who secured a significant victory over AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in the recent Assembly elections. The ministers will be sworn in on Thursday afternoon in a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, officials confirmed.

According to a Union Home Ministry notification, the President has appointed BJP MLAs Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh as ministers in the Delhi government. Their appointments were made on the recommendation of Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta.

Gupta, 50, was unanimously chosen as the Leader of the House in the newly constituted 8th Delhi Assembly during the BJP legislature party meeting on Wednesday. Following this, Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena invited her to form the government after she staked her claim at Raj Niwas later that evening. Once sworn in, she will become Delhi’s 9th Chief Minister.

The newly formed Council of Ministers, led by Gupta, is expected to hold its first meeting at the Delhi Secretariat around 3 PM on Thursday. Key policy decisions could be on the agenda, including the implementation of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, which promises a monthly payment of ₹2,500 to eligible women, and the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, sources within the BJP indicated.

This victory marks a historic political shift in Delhi, as the BJP has ended the decade-long rule of the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP. The party secured 48 out of 70 seats in the Assembly elections held on February 5. This will be the BJP’s first time in power in Delhi since its last tenure from 1993 to 1998.
