New Delhi: Agha Mehdi Mehdvipur, representative of Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei has expressed his deep sorrow over the Jamia Masjid incident in which some masked youth after the Friday prayers had waved the flags of ISIS and raised slogans from the pulpit of Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

He termed it to be the work of enemies of Islam and stressed on being alert of the tricks and conspiracies of the enemy.

The incident has led to shock, outrage and deep resentment among people and deeply hurt their sentiments associated with the mosque. Both Shia and Sunni Scholars condemned the incident.

Earlier President Anjuman Shari Shian, Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi had said this action is condemnable as the terrorist organization like ISIS can’t be lauded from the pulpits of historic Jamia Masjid.

“In the past too, some elements at the behest of certain agencies and handlers have indulged in hooliganism in and outside the Jamia Masjid,” he said.

He added that the motive of these agencies is to weaken and disunite the ongoing people’s movement of the right to self determination, and these elements are being used to divert this just movement by changing its basic nature and character under the pretence of perusing some global agenda.
