Researchers find Afghanistan to be the worst country for women

by Abbas Adil

Shafaqna India: Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, has been identified as the worst country for women, according to research from the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security (GIWPS) and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). Reports from various organizations paint a similarly bleak picture of Afghan women’s circumstances.

In the past three years, women and girls have been stripped of nearly every basic right essential for survival. The Taliban’s misogynistic stance is so severe that one member stated women’s voices should be silenced because they “tempt men.”

The situation is catastrophic, with severe human rights abuses prevalent, particularly in impoverished provinces. Countless girls have become victims of child marriage, either forcibly married to Taliban fighters or executed for crimes they did not commit. Some were secretly stoned to death without any legal process, while others, like Qadria, faced publicized fates with unknown suffering before their deaths.
