Shafaqna India: On Thursday, the US State Department imposed sanctions on a Chinese research institute and several companies involved in supporting Pakistan’s ballistic missile program. This action follows similar sanctions in October 2023, which targeted three China-based companies for supplying missile-related items to Pakistan.

According to Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, the Beijing Research Institute of Automation for Machine Building Industry collaborated with Pakistan to obtain equipment for testing rocket motors for the Shaheen-3 and Ababeel missile systems, and possibly for larger systems.

The sanctions also affect Hubei Huachangda Intelligent Equipment Co, Universal Enterprise, and Xi’an Longde Technology Development Co, all based in China, as well as Pakistan-based Innovative Equipment and a Chinese national. These entities were sanctioned for knowingly transferring equipment restricted under missile technology regulations.

Miller stated, “Today’s actions highlight the United States’ commitment to addressing proliferation and related procurement activities, wherever they occur.”

Neither the Chinese nor Pakistani embassies in Washington immediately responded to requests for comment.
