Zadibal area of Srinagar district has become hub for drug peddlers, where as per the locals some miscreant sell and consume Cannabis and other drugs in interior parts of Zadibal, Hawal areas.
The Residents, parents are concerned regarding the life and future of there children, since the Cannabis and other drugs peddlers roam around the area and mislead the boys, the inhabitants of the area of worried for their children and society.
Despite being witnessed by the residents on regular intervals, the Cannabis mob seem to have become more populated, the residents say.
Residents, Senior citizens of Zadibal, Lal Bazar, Hawal, Nowshera, Gillikadal areas of Srinagar told that they often notice the drug peddlers roaming around but no one seems to bother.
We appeal the concerned authorities to conduct the raids in certain places of Zadibal, Hawal, Lal Bazar, Gillikadal, so that this menace would be removed from the society.
They said that from the age of 13 years, young teenagers consume Cannabis, however, they are misled by these sellers.
As per the reports, these drug peddlers in the first go give “cannabis for free” to the teenagers, soon after they become addicted they become permanent buyers “the addicts”.
The area has a population of more than fifty thousand people, where most of the children are misled by the drug peddlers.
“Over 40 percent of the young teenager consume Cannabis.” “however the young school going children are also misleaded,” told one of the residents whose name has been kept a secret.
The residents told that Zadibal area is witnessing immoral activities, from drug addiction to gambling, especially in afternoon, Late hours and dusk hours. “Even the college student and dropouts are the victims of this menace,” they added.
Many a times they urges police administration to look in to the matter, so that they will take an appropriate action against these drug peddlers, the residents told.
“Police would clean these black sheep’s out of this society and put them behind bars so, that the future of the youth could be saved,” they added.
Residents further said that their children are going in the wrong direction since misled by the Cannabis sellers.
The residents appeal to the concerned authorities that they should get more vigilant in this regard and take on the matter seriously.
“The police and anti-drug departments must arrest these menaces so that our children would not get involved in these illegal activities,” the residents told.
Area Heads told Coordination Committee NGO, that we want to erradicate these nonsense things from the society, however the misdeeds occur behind the curtain.
COORDINATION COMMITTEE NGO and inhabitants of these areas have appealed to the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) Zadibal, Lalbazar, Soura and has appealed to keep an eye on these miscreants,” NGO told. Civil society has told that if authorities and police wouldn’t take any step in resolving this grave issue, they will take things themselves in hands to stop this evil menace.
Coordination Committee of NGO has also appealed MLA Mr. Abid Hussain Ansari to take pains personally in this matter, so that such drug activities must be stopped at an earliest, that has become a cause of worry, inconvenience and tension for the inhabitants and for the parents also.
Although the parents need to take care of their wards and keep away from their social ills, he added.
